Well, what he meant by that was that the professors at Yale were embracing the idea of reason-based argument, which is after all what the Enlightenment and the United States is based on. matched

And what that meant was they were looking at economics, for example, coming out of the New Deal and saying, yeah, we actually need to have business regulation. matched

We need to have a basic social safety net. matched

It actually is good for the economy if we invest in infrastructure. matched

We need to have equality before the law. matched

And they like the idea of a rules-based international order to stabilize the world so we wouldn't have World War III. matched

And he insisted that this was indoctrination. matched

And by the way, they were also secular. matched

They believed that people should choose their own religions or not, that that was not something that the government should be involved in. matched

And the position Buckley takes is that we have to start from the premise that the government should not do any of those things and that we must be a Christian organization, a Christian government. matched

And because we keep putting this proposition in front of the voters and they keep voting for that stuff that the Yale professors talk about, we need to push back on that not by engaging in the Enlightenment by saying here's our reasoning and our reasoning is better than theirs. matched
