And it's something we desperately need in order to adapt American democracy to the 21st century, which needs to happen. matched

You know, that always jumps out to me as well, because again, if you think about the things that people on the Democratic side are calling for, they're wildly popular. matched

So, you know, every time I see this idea that somebody is far left when they're talking about universal health care, when like 80 percent of Americans want that, that sounds pretty centrist to me. matched

Similarly, common sense gun safety measures, you know, wildly popular. matched

Over 75%, I think. matched

You know, you look at those things and you see them described in the media as being the far left. matched

That kind of makes my head explode because the actual left is not interested in the preservation of liberal democracy because they think that it is too corrupt either because of racism or sexism or classism ever to have a fair society. matched

And I look at the people who are operating even in the Democratic Party across the spectrum. matched

Nobody's calling for that. matched

In fact, the things that they are calling for are less dramatic in terms of economic fairness than Eisenhower did. matched

And Eisenhower was a Republican president. matched

Yeah, yeah. matched

Well, think about the 1956 Republican platform, which is far more dramatically weighted toward the consumer workers, women working, disabled people working, than the farthest left-wing matched

Democrat operating right now. matched

And look at the fact that in the 1950s, the top income tax bracket was 91%. matched

Unless I've missed something dramatic, I'm not seeing anybody calling for those sorts of numbers right now or anything near that. matched
