think a really beautiful way to read this play is through that lens that um uh if you see the green world as in a christian interpretation you can see the green world as this way of like mystical knowledge right um and that that is necessary to get to the harmony at the end um

So that Hermia and Lysander and Helen and Demetrius end up with the right person in loving union and communion, but under the authority of a father, right?

Because they do at the end have Theseus' blessing.

And so there's this kind of...

mystical experience that they go through in the green world.

Now, I think that is a really, really beautiful interpretation.

I just cannot reconcile it with Theseus and Hippolyta's marriage.

But I because he could have chosen any other classical marriage, like a legitimate one that was not coercion.

But I think if you ignore that element, you can have like this really beautiful kind of Christian mystical reading of the play that works just fine.

And when you're reading for yourself, you can do that.
