If China's going to face more of a structural requirement in your view to take on more costs in support of the international order or building its preferred international order.
How does that map onto China's slowing economy and the serious fiscal pressures it's facing at home?
It seems like Xi Jinping wants to leverage the stability he's achieved in US-China relations over the past few months to really refocus on domestic policy.
He's traveling less.
So even as he's announcing these very ambitious global initiatives, we see him actually spending.
his time and to some degree resources more so at home.
So how does that all fit together?
It's a great point that even if China's priorities are fundamentally domestic, as long as we saw in the new five year plan, China continues to double down as export on export led growth as the single solution, or you know, technology enabled export led growth as the single solution to whatever economic problems come their way, then
As much as in many ways China's made great strides towards lessening its dependence on the rest of the world.
I mean, that's a huge dependence on the rest of the world.
They're betting the entirety of their economic model on the rest of the world.
And at some point that will come with some challenging trade offs that other nations have had to to manage over time as well.
