Good morning, Claire.
Well, today we're gonna go into day six of deliberations and at this point the jury have deliberated now for close to thirty hours.
So it has been very, very intense waiting to see will there be a verdict here.
Um, what we know about the jury, obviously, you know, their their details, their information is not released to the public.
We do know that there's nine women on the jury and three men.
And uh for two days in a row, Tuesday and Wednesday, they went to the judge, Judge Sullivan, and said, We are deadlocked here and we cannot reach a unanimous decision.
On Tuesday
Judge Sullivan kind of informally instructed them to just go back
keep this going, try and keep um to to break this impasse and and reach a unanimous verdict because it has to be unanimous here in Massachusetts.
And yesterday the jury came back again.
Now when they came back this second time, Judge Sullivan
uh read to them what's called the dynamite charge.
In Massachusetts it's called the Tui Rodriguez charge and it's more of a formal
instruction to the jury and to like quickly kind of summarize it, it it's basically just
a last ditch effort to avoid a hung jury.
And and what he was saying to them is a delicate balance here of, you know, he's not trying to tell the the people that are in the minority
you must reach unanimous decision.
You must, you know, walk away from your convictions in this trial.
But it is saying you are the most as informed, as impartial, as intelligent as any future jury would be.
And it is in the best interest to try and find a verdict here.
