And the reason why is because they basically decide on a lot of the legislation that funds federal government organizations.
Now, if you look at that, there are twenty nine members.
15 of them are Republicans, including Mitch McConnell.
14 are Democrats.
And so it is absolutely vital that they have that majority, because as you will know, Claire, a lot of times they just vote along party lines.
And if Mitch McConnell isn't there to do the votes, it will be a tie.
And that oftentimes sinks legislation.
And I think timing is always critical with these things.
So this Monday is when the Senate comes back after recess.
And there's a deadline up until September 30th for them voting.
for the Senate Appropriations Committee to fund the fiscal year of 2027.
So the time, the clock is ticking very much so.
And that's what I think really a lot of people are looking at and a lot of Republicans are very, very concerned about.
Yeah, so he, it's actually a really interesting story.
So he entered the race last August and before that he was
basically virtually unknown.
And he is an oyster farmer in Maine and a former Marine.
And Maine, for anyone who doesn't know, it's very near Boston, but it feels like a world away in some respects because a lot of it is very rural, very coastal.
So there isn't these big, huge cities in the way that there might be in other states.
And he just resonated with a lot of Democrat voters there.
