Let's be honest.
A lot of the things that we talk about are vestiges of poverty and the fact that our government does not and has not looked out for poor folks on both sides of the aisle.
As an example, Flint, the people of Flint still haven't gotten paid and they still haven't gotten remuneration for their harm.

And so when we talk about just poor and underrepresented communities that don't have agency, don't have voice, we conflate a lot of it in terms of race, yes, but a lot of it has to do with poverty.

These are things that folks need voice and agency.
100 people in this country control the distribution of $7.2 trillion.
And this is what I try to explain to people.
It's the US Senate that controls the money.
The president does not control the money.
And if we want to have real change economically, we have to look to the Senate and who we're sending to the U.S.
Senate to get the resources back to the communities in the way we want.
