Kind of wild.

So I'm 29 years old.

It's my first book.

My first media appearance, my first time on television ever was the Today Show with Katie Couric.

I called a friend who was getting a master's in journalism to ask her what to wear.

I mean, I didn't know anything.

So I went on the Today Show.

I was living in New York City.

By the time I got home, I didn't know to unlist my number.

By the time I got home, we still had analog answering machines.

It was entirely full.

There was a huge response to that book.

I was flooded with letters from readers because this was 1994.

It was before the internet.

We didn't have emails yet.

Now all my communication is by email and DMs.

But back then it was the mail writing to me, care of the publisher.

I got hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of letters from readers.

And it was just like the floodgates were open.
