And then I got to work with him later on as a colleague and through that became what I would consider a friend.
That just kind of sort of blew me away.
But I wasn't at that point yet when Tom retired and ultimately was elected to the Hall of Fame.
I believe he went in in what, 92?
92, yes.
Yeah.
So he was elected with the biggest mandate in Hall of Fame history, 98.8% of the vote.
And he agreed to come on with me the next night on WFAN.
Now, it was only going to be for a half hour.
And my awareness of Tom was that if he said a half hour, you're talking 30 minutes and then vamoose.
And so towards the end of that half hour,
We played a compilation of his highlights over the music bed of Rod Stewart's Forever Young.
It was brilliantly put together by Dov Kramer and Eric Spitz, if I remember right.
And if I'm leaving anybody out of that production, I apologize.
But my immediate reaction or memory is that Spitz and Dov were the brains behind that.
Yeah, that makes sense.
And it was pretty emotional.
And so when we came out of that,
I was basically saying goodnight to Tom.
