He stayed on for another half hour.

And it wasn't as though I had to ask.

It was just sort of the stream of consciousness that he went into that allowed that night to continue twice as long as I budgeted.

And we had a lot of other guests that night, former teammates of his and such.

And it was just such a remarkable night for me, nevermind as a broadcaster, but as a fan, that was one.

And the night that, sadly, Billy Martin passed away was obviously quite a spontaneous gathering of guests and information.

And on a night like that, I saw the power of WFAN.

Right.

And, you know, Eric Spitz did such a great job producing that night, coming up with guests and people who actually were being, and I think Spitz, he might've told Whitey Ford and Lou Piniella on the phone that Billy had passed.

I mean, it's just unbelievable in terms of the emotions.

And that night just reinforced how important WFAN was and is.

I learned a little from that, right?

It's not a bad lesson.

Know when and to whom to suck up.

Yeah.

Yeah, in fact, after it became public, Mindy texted me and said, we're going to win it all this year.

I hope I didn't betray your confidence there, but I thought it was so cool that he said that because I told him nothing would make me happier.
