that go with being the open champion is that walk down onto the 18th green, uh, with the captain of the RNA, with, with the, the captain and president of Royal Birkdale there, everyone there, thousands of people around, um, um,
I'm quite an emotional chap where I can cry quite easily when something means a lot to me.
And even watching sometimes on TV, like when Adam Scott won the Masters and Jason Day, Cam Smith, when he won the Open, there's tears in my eyes as just knowing what they went through to get to that point.
And that's how I felt when I went down onto that green and
Uh, the leading amateur was there and Mike Howard was there and, um, you, you called out as champion golfer for 1991.
That is just, uh...
not so much an exhilarating moment, but just a moment of achievement, a moment of, yeah, I've done it now.
I've climbed the mountain.
Yeah, exactly.

Very memorable and emotional.
Actually hard to make the speech.
My speech was quite short because it really was just heartfelt.
You know, I didn't have someone, you know, there in the media writing my speech out for me and giving me all the points, like what happens these days, there'll be 10 people around helping you.
It was more a, hey, thanks for the support.
I've let you down a couple of times before.
Thanks for being my champion and I hope you stay behind me in the future.
That type of thing was, hey, this really means a lot to me.
