If you're receiving an oncoming kick, are the players around you telling you whether to jump for it or whether to stay down?
Because that didn't happen.
And that really cost us.
There was one where Tommy O'Brien gets up, jumps for the ball, but he's actually not under pressure.
It's not a 1v1 duel.
He has time to stay on the ground.
What does that give you?
The opportunity to beat your opposite man, get an offload away, move the point of contact.
Because he jumped, as he lands, he gets hit, and the French come in with a really effective counter-rug, win a penalty on the halfway line.
And then before you know it, you go from potentially having a good opportunity in their half, you're now defending on your own 22.
So...
Like, it kills me.
And I'm working with Eamon Fell now, who obviously used to play for the Dubs.
And he actually laughs.
He said, oh, we referenced the rugby guys that, you know, we play GAA in Ireland.
We should be good at winning the aerial contest.
He was like, this is an art form, winning the aerial contest.
Like, it's not because we played GAA when we were growing up.
Not in the detail that the best teams are doing, and that's what we're looking to measure ourselves by.
It's strange, though.
