I grabbed a bunch of cassettes from the office of the magazine and it was all Van Morrison reissues.

So my little portable cassette player, I would walk up and down.

I got as far as Scarborough out of season, a little seaside resort in England.

And I walked up and down the beach at Scarborough listening to nothing but Van Morrison for the best part of a week.

I wouldn't say it cured the panic attacks, but it was a big help.

Well, you know what?

When I was thinking about this, most of my Van Morrison songs are very long.

They're nine, ten minutes, and I thought, we can't do that on radio.

And Sweet Thing, it's just a beautiful song.

It's a beautiful love song.

It's full of that wonderful lyrical poetry, and his voice is so good.

Very occasionally, but at first I thought I was having a heart attack.

You know, I was terrified and I went to the GP.

And my wife looked it up and she found a little book, How to Cope with Panic Attacks.

And I realised that it's more widespread than I imagined.

I mean, she had me breathing into a paper bag, which I thought was ridiculous, but it worked.

Lots of things work.

If I get the kind of sense now, this kind of surge, it's almost like an adrenaline surge.

I can almost channel it down to my toes and through the floor.

It's like I'm earthing myself, and I can get rid of it that way.
