70 minutes of the game or 85 minutes a game for the whole 100 minutes of every single Premier League game and be ready and be switched on and to have the physicality and right now I don't think he has got that physicality he hasn't got that know-how that experience that you know when things go wrong I think there was something a few years ago wasn't it that Jürgen brought in and do you remember the surfer and he took them surfing and it was about the breathing techniques and that was to make sure that these footballers are ready for when things go wrong because

What we've seen is a lot of things go right and what you're alluding to is when things go wrong and that's where young players learn the trade basically and that's what he's got to do and you don't do that in the firing line.

You do that coming on off the bench or playing not just League Cup games but proper Premier League games but games that you're probably expected to win when you're playing teams at home that you're thinking you can't throw him in that day.

You can rest one of the other lads.

I think that's

really really important um going into the season but i do think he can really get some minutes under his belt i think he he can play 20 25 games next season or this season should i say and stake a claim for that team and then who knows because you've seen footballers i mean coming into this team young lads who if they're really really really good you can you can never get them out so who knows

It was a nice balance with Dom Sbarzlai as well Andy I thought over the course of the three games Sbarzlai's been another bit of a standout really looked really fit looked at it looked like he's maybe ready to take on that extra bit of responsibility a lot of criticism of him last season in terms of some of the stuff he was doing off the pitch I think a lot of it rightly so by the way but on the pitch he was probably one of Liverpool's better players I think it's fair to say he looks like someone who's ready to kind of to grasp this opportunity under a new manager I think

What do you think his role is next year, John, in terms of where he plays in the team?

Because I think there's a case for maybe he pops up in different spots.

There'll be maybe times when you want to use him further forward.

Obviously, he's been used a lot where he's maybe slightly deeper.

And I think, again, in pre-season, you are going to live up more time on the ball.

I think when there's been some criticisms of him dropping deep, it's not necessarily about his ability to spray passes because he's got them in his locker room.

He can hit 30, 40, 50-yard balls, no problem.

Drop them on a sixpence for someone.

I think where there's been sometimes criticism, it's does he play those cute ones through fast enough?

Is he going to get you on the front foot to those forward players by playing those balls?

I think quite often last season, you'd see him maybe take an extra touch and just hold it a little bit.

And maybe that was under direction from slot, but there wasn't necessarily that urgency to get it out quickly.
