What they didn't continue to print was how extraordinary as a 27-year-old or a 37-year-old to have a complete dining set that's there.

What a useful, brilliant present.

Instead of some plastic toy that you were given at seven that you've no idea where it's gone or how useless it would have been.

It was brilliant.

And I've always thought, again, the idea of thinking forward, something that would mean something later in life.

And I am a godparent to many godchildren, and I take it as a great privilege as well.

And I often think about that.

Can I live up to that brilliant thinking ahead of what someone would like later in life?

Hmm.

Probably not often together.

My father lived a lot in London.

My mother lived a lot in the countryside.

My father loved to travel.

He worked very hard.

He loved what he did.

Was he playing the field as well in that tradition?

No, no, but he liked, he definitely was, he was interested in every aspect of design.

You know, I grew up in these extraordinary dining rooms that had no windows.

They were tented dining rooms of pinks and purples and puces.

He designed everything around him.
