And and and in our own academy, Tara Friedman wrote a letter two letters to Earl Blumenauer in January that are actually articulate something like
three different um uh policy steps that could be taken.
They they're really excellent.
And and if if I have any complaint about them at all, it's that they could have been done they could have been issued in two thousand and eight, two thousand and nine.
We knew enough then basically to say pretty much the same thing and certainly
in the last five years we could have we could have done this.
But that setting setting aside the timing, they're excellent and and try to
to just those issues.
Ira, did you have something to say about that?
No, I I I think it's just another piece of evidence that what we do is the right care.
Oh you know, we we we do so much right um that I'm not sure why we are so resistant to um to using our force for good in in helping to transform American health care.
I mean one one of the things we have that we haven't s spoken about is but we we have a a a reasonably bizarre uh structure we're working within.
you know, which is the Medicare benefit.
And again, I sound like an OG, but um I guess I am.
Um you know uh uh railing against uh and and pointing out the need to transform the Medicare benefit and update it um since really actively since two thousand and one when uh I was I I was running a program for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and we were looking at integrating hospice like care within mainstream
Healthcare, and we showed that if you did concurrent care, you know, uh uh people felt better, they sometimes lived longer, they you know, their families did better, uh, and costs didn't go up, they went down comparative to the change the diminution of the area under the curve of hospital days.
But we are still laboring under this Medicare benefit, and and frankly, the industry stood in the way of transparency.
Morning at Congress was far more ready than than providers were.
But now we're in a situation where
We are the only discipline that I know, Costus particularly, that if our patients get better and live longer, we are we are accused of straw for ever admitting them.
