This is kind of connected to some of what you just said.
With my last three books, it felt like it was a project that started with We Are Made of Diamond and stuff.
Then I had another one called Sterling Caragol.
And then this particular project that I sort of saw as my own kind of ended with Corrified as Social Mobility.
These three books, they sort of, to me, I was working on a particular thing that I was sort of trying to do in literature.
And I knew that this new book could not possibly be the same thing because the project finished.
And the reason why the project finished is because the world has changed in a way that is completely unrecognizable compared to what we had even five, six years ago.
Yeah.
So I needed this change to be kind of reflected.
And so had I. I had also changed.
When the world changes, we change.
But for all sorts of reasons, I had also changed.
And I wanted this change, this kind of like,
Whatever is going on now, even if it's just like a sort of a, don't they call it a structure of feeling or whatever, something that is different about now.
I wanted to capture this in this book and in both content, but also in form.
And what you just said, this sort of given space to...
to kind of being sad, like say about 10 years, think about just before COVID, we were all sort of politically so motivated.
We were really like, there was 2020, there was, you know, Black Lives Matter kind of happened.
We had like some progress in the, with trans rights and we had,
some sort of like a diverse, whatever, what they now call EDI measures started to come into place.
