In the late 1980s, Paul was an eighth grader at Meanie Middle School in South Seattle.
He was a smart kid with high test scores, but he was often bored in class and wasn't shy about breaking the rules.
One time the mischievous teen super glued coins to the hallway floor and watched as other students struggled to pick them up.
Another time, for close to a month, he operated a candy reselling scheme.
His fellow students asked him for gummies, gobstoppers, and starbursts.
