I feel those frustrations because I have to sit in that Senate in opposition across from a completely and utterly incompetent government that
that lies to the Australian people and, you know, attempts to capture the moral high ground.
You know, I mean, it sickens me to my gut.
And I'll give you an example.
Me giving my speech to Parliament last week on my niece's condolence, you know, and having to...
Knowing that, you know, I proposed amendments to the motion because the government's motion was piss weak and it was avoiding any level of responsibility or any accountability in the matter.
And they hide behind my own family.
This is a thing, right?
How close I am to the action and the way that I've seen this government use and abuse Aboriginal people, the most vulnerable, including my own family, to run their own agenda and to maintain the status quo.
My frustrations sicken me to my stomach when I have to stand there and deal with that.
and not even have the respect of the Indigenous members of the parliament to acknowledge my kin relationship to my niece in that chamber where you think that is ultimately where that you're supposed to display respect but completely sideline that and politicise the issue
and the way the Greens think that they know what's best for Aboriginal people.
And they are the most paternalistic
I can't swear right now, individuals, you will ever come across when it comes to Indigenous issues and everything is about ideology and not looking at Aboriginal people like individuals in their own right as Australian citizens and let's treat them as such and deal with these issues in that way.
Like for me, it's personal, you know, when I stand up there in that parliament.
And so I get the frustrations that Australians are feeling in this moment right now where they're not being heard, where they're not being listened to.
This government actively moves against me because I am exactly what you say I am.
I'm an Aboriginal woman who's a conservative and that blows their mind because they don't have any control over me.
The ABC's worst nightmare, precisely.
