It's not like Darnell was, you know, the only veteran guy back there.

They've still got veterans on the back end where I don't think as a unit it's going to be that much of a shakeup.

I mean, quite frankly, Evan Bouchard is no longer a young player in this league.

He's an established veteran who has survived not only the process of transition,

in as a guy that's leaned on for offense, but he's also, you know, been hardened by playing in this market.

He is, you know, had tough starts to seasons and and come roaring back.

And we saw it last year.

I I think at at this point, uh the Oilers back end is should be you know in terms of the the classic where are you going to get your offense

from defense, from special teams goaltending.

For me, uh, the team defensively, that's kinda near the bottom of my concerns.

Well, I just said that's the one thing, you know, uh when Darnell was at his best, he he did have the mean on at times.

And I you know, I think he's quite frankly more accomplished in that regard than even a Connor Murphy.

I I think the Oilers on the back end are gonna be more about the collective and I think the same holds true with terms of of team physicality.

I'm not sure it's gonna always have to come from the defense.

I I know that guys like Colton Doc and Trent Frederick are are looking to, you know, be menaces out there.

I you know, and a guy that, you know, I I I wouldn't necessarily write off in terms of landing a full time gig in the NHL, you know, this season, even though like like Alevi, he hasn't

Proven he can do it yet is Connor Klattenberg.

I mean, I uh you know, that guy isn't coming to training camp thinking he's gonna spend the majority of the year in the American Hockey League.
