Ultimately, I was glad that Jim McGuinness got off, and I think Charlotte Burns' explanation actually makes sense, if you take it at face value.
Some people just look at the incidents themselves, which were similar, but how they were handled by the referees on the day were very different, which left the outcomes that subsequently came, you know, kind of wiggle room there as well.

The part that I really disagree with is that you can't go back and sanction someone for an incident after the fact.

Where you can't actually... If it's some egregious, flagrant incident, you can't go back and then subsequently sanction someone because the referee is deemed to have dealt with it.
