Which of course I didn't have, but I went away and took that as an opportunity to put down some scenes on tapes and stuff.

So I filmed some scenes from stuff that I was really interested in.

Things that you shouldn't be doing when you're 17 years old.

But Derek saw it and he responded to it and he was like, well, maybe come in and have a coffee and we'll have a little chat.

So I came in and he said he'd take me on on a trial very graciously.

And so I ended up...

doing some auditions during that time.

And one of them was for Kirsten, who was making quite an experimental film that had really no script.

There was a treatment, but it was a film that we were going to shoot chronologically and completely improvised.

This is the dollhouse.

Yeah, this is a film called Dollhouse.

A mad type of thing to be doing, particularly as your first thing.

Yeah.

So it really knocks the nerves out of you.

You know, you'd go for anything after that.

Okay, yeah.

And so I did that film.
