break and indicator that we are going into someone else's head because obviously you do not want to be head hopping and that really disorients the reader and then they're like wait why am I now in this person's head now I was just with the other character so there are still very clean breaks and transitions

But what I did is I allowed myself to not necessarily follow a set formula, not necessarily be keeping a running tally of, okay, well, we've been in Lucy's head this many times and we've been in Frank's head this many times.

Instead, I was following what felt organic to me and the character who I felt like was going to best serve the story at that point.

So I do think we spend a lot of time in Lucy's head, my protagonist.

She is somebody who we follow a lot of the book.

I think Frank, the love interest and the sort of deuteragonist.

We spend a lot of time in his head.

And then the other characters we pop in as necessary when, for instance, it's now at a point in the text where that character and their secrets are of particular note.

That is a good time to include their perspective more.

There's also, I believe, one part that we're in the perspective of the detective who is assigned to the case.

And that is the only part in the entire book where we are in that character's head.

But I chose him for that moment because it's a part where the murder has just occurred and all of the characters have to be interviewed about it.

So...

I chose that moment to present the characters the way that this detective who has just come onto the scene sees them.

So I think the thing about multi-PUV is you need to work it out a little bit.

Don't necessarily pressure yourself to make everything even.

And for each moment, just assess what it is that you are trying to accomplish with that scene and what character's perspective is going to help you the most in that purpose.

Yes, so the point of having these mixed media elements in the book is to not only tell you something about the characters, because like I said, all the characters have different tropes and the books that they choose to write tell you something about them, but also to compliment and highlight the emotions present in the book at that time or what it is that the characters are doing.

So each one of them is meant to pull out specific elements of what is happening at that point in the book, rather than just being a cool thing.
