This is obviously the linchpin for this entire study.

The corona is the outermost layer of our sun's atmosphere, right?

It's the wispy plasma that I know we've all seen, all of us hearing me right at this moment, right?

We've seen it because we saw totality.

We saw, you know, in Dallas, right?

You see the corona when the sun is blocked either by the moon or using some sort of technology to block the sun.

And you could see this wispy, glowy plasma around beyond the disk.

And it extends millions of kilometers into space.

This is big.

So, yeah, here's the mystery that Steve alluded to here.

The surface of the sun or the photosphere is about, you know, this is where the basically the visible light comes from.

It's being emitted from there.

Essentially, that surface, the photosphere is 5500 degrees Celsius, 9900 degrees Fahrenheit.

The corona is one to three million degrees Celsius or or more.

It's far, far hotter.

So how does that even work?

But remember, when you think of this, you got to remember, the corona is very rarefied, right?

The particles, there's far fewer particles per unit volume, but they're moving a lot faster.

And that's what temperature ultimately is, right?

Temperature is the average energy per particle.
