Well, look, like all relationship issues, everything is unique and depends really on the two people involved and how they feel about it.
Like, as you said yourself at the beginning, you and your partner are fine.
Whereas as other people have written and said, they're not fine with it at all.
So like most things, there's no right or wrong here, but it is something that you definitely need to talk about.
look exactly it's not so much about whether you should or you shouldn't but what's the meaning behind it and what's the impact on you so if your partner's yeah comparing you to the past or so it was better in the past well yeah that's really unkind and not something that should be done but then again if your partner's just bringing up something that happened in the past because their partner happened to be there at the time and as you said
it would be hard to share that story without mentioning them, then that's starting to get a little bit paranoid and imposing on your partner.
Well, yeah, look, that's okay.
I mean, that's better, obviously.
But, look, it can still be a little bit problematic as well because then you sort of have to think, well, are they going to do the same thing with me and with a future partner and so forth?
And, you know, you have to be a bit careful that you're not sort of glorifying your current –
You know, this whole sort of it's all good or it's all bad.
So the person you're with now has to be this perfect partner and you've got to see them in the perfect light.
And anyone from the past is just like the devil and they're terrible so we can't mention them because they're from the past.
I mean, someone from the past, someone from the present.
You know, you've got your good sides and you've got your bad sides.
So we need to be a little bit realistic and not sort of try and say that everything from the past is bad and everything in the present has to be fantastic.
Yeah, look, James, you really need to sort of start looking at yourself and what's going on for you there because it sounds like you're creating a lot of anxiety for yourself based on something that doesn't actually exist.
for sure.
And, you know, you can't change their past and they can't fix you.
So as Elizabeth was saying earlier, like it's really important that we talk to our partners and talk about our insecurities because we all have them.
