So
How should carriers think about keeping AI-delivered data credible enough to base an underwriting decision on?
Are there any failure modes that you would warn them to watch for?
Yeah, makes sense.
And Simon, how about you?
Any examples or experience with LLMs perhaps delivering inaccurate data for some of the more granular and complex geospatial data points?
Certainly some examples, yes.
Yeah, and I think this is why, particularly at this point, the option for human oversight where necessary is still important.
And I think this is where a lot of carriers perhaps trip up or feel slightly intimidated by AI is that
There's a very binary polarized view in that you have it or you don't, but there's a mid-ground in there, which is we can implement LLMs in AI to help with workflows that are subject to human oversight where necessary.
And then we can slide that scale between human oversight and AI agency as needed and as performance is proven.
I totally agree.
I think this is why vertically focused vendors are having so much success at the minute.
Their product comes from a deep understanding of the problem to solve and the methods of solving it rather than, as you mentioned, kind of unleashing this powerful technology and a wide net type approach and hoping it can solve the problem.
I think the configuration and deployment of AI being super focused is really, really important.
So yeah, on to accumulation.
Accumulation is often treated as something that you check after binding, which you referenced earlier, Mark, or it could be treated as a postcode level.
What changes commercially if an underwriter can ask at the point of quote something along the lines of what else do I already insure in this building or this fire block or this flood catchment?
And could that kind of visibility let a carrier write risks that its competitors are declining?
Absolutely.
