Appearances
especially ones with strong technical teams, look at external data capabilities and they think we could build that ourselves.
And maybe they can, maybe they can't.
Maybe the challenge comes at scaling.
But where do you think competitive differentiation actually lives?
Is it in owning the data capability or somewhere else entirely?
And in your experience, what tends to happen when insurers do try to build in-house?
that's something that we are seeing as well in that what you guys are doing is your bread and butter it's your sole focus whereas an insurer would be building it internally as a means to an end and they don't necessarily have the expertise the resource the time or the desire to focus enough on it to make it as valuable as you address cloud can simon i want to hear a little from you as well perhaps about how the nuance of geospatial data might influence a build versus buy decision
Yeah, absolutely.
I think as is human nature, often you need to experience the pain of trying to build before you decide and realize that buy is the route forward.
So hopefully this conversation, if nothing else, can help convey that point in that build is half the story, scale, maintain, run, keep up to date, et cetera, et cetera, is probably, as you say, even more than the other half of the story.
So one last question that we ask every guest
If you could change one thing about the insurance industry, what would it be and why?
Two great answers, I think.
Neither one of them necessarily rely on a huge technological implementation.
They're more like culture, attitude, approach reframing.
And I think that is probably the key to the digital transformation and technological transformation that we're seeing and looking to see in the industry.
Those reframings of approach are key to that being successful.
So yeah, really great answers.
Thanks for joining.
The conversation has been super illuminating for me personally, and I know it will be for our listeners as well.
