I absolutely am not a school guy.

So...

I figured if I'm going to play baseball, a men's league isn't going to take enough time to get my head on straight.

So I went to junior college and figured if I want to play baseball, then I'll have to do school.

That's a two-for-one deal for me.

So I did, and it was really good for me.

I went to Shasta College, top of California.

I'm one of those guys.

it's like the saying like, oh, baseball saved my life.

I don't know if it saved my life, but it certainly took me down a much better path.

And so it meant something to me and got a scholarship out of there, which I say all this because it adds to, I think, my journey and then coaching and passing my journey along, which I think is what a lot of these guys do.

And I appreciate that so much.

I got a full ride to a Division II in New Mexico out of that junior college.

And then at the 11th hour, last day before I left, took a physical real quick and had a very small heart condition that the doctor's like, one of the highest elevation schools in New Mexico where I was going.

He's like, you can't go.

You can't do that every day.

Your heart's going to struggle to train and live in that atmosphere.

Kind of like a Kenley Jansen.

Yeah, yeah.
