So I'm like, okay.

So I stayed home, obviously.

My brother actually passed away from heart failure.

So I'm like, I'm not going to do this to my mom.

She won't be able to sleep for two years while I'm in this school.

So stayed home, looked for another option, and started working at a batting cage.

And then eventually somebody called in and asked if anyone could coach a travel team.

I'm like, yeah, I'm a yes guy.

I'm like, yeah, I'll do it.

And then that just became the thing.

Somehow I went from that to coaching at Carlsbad High School in Southern California.

And I did that for nine years.

And two as the assistant and then seven as the head guy.

And that for me was like the coolest thing.

It was honestly the best.

And I had a guy, Ralph Cripe.

He took care of the field.

It was his place.
