Like what what should fans be actually optimistic and encouraged by six years later?
That was really the big driving forward for me in the past few months, really since the middle of April to really like try to figure out how to answer that question and try to figure out what went wrong and what anybody learned from the way the past six years went.
Yeah, you know, and again, like, it was a miss, right?
It was a big miss evaluation.
Halliburton, obviously, pretty much from the jump, had been the better player.
And obviously, what he's done, I think, as I tried to talk about in the piece, like, you know, there's something with Halliburton, I think, also.
I mean, eight other teams, right?
Halliburton goes into the 12th pick.
Eight other teams end up passing on him as well.
He doesn't go sort of right away.
And it wasn't like he was some can't miss prospect.
So there does seem to just be like a blind spot that maybe kind of old school basketball people, somebody, people just keep missing on Halliburton.
I mean, he gets these votes even a couple of years ago of this overrated play, even in some smattering of some votes as well in that overrated player poll poll.
which I know doesn't have a huge sample size.
But, you know, I think it was the as I outlined the process that really frustrated staffers of, you know, not really feeling like they were being heard.
It's a doubling down, of course, that really like, you know, to then three or four years later to sign Patrick to an extension.
give them a player option, like all of those things that I think were the most, because people have draft misses all the time, but sort of not being willing to acknowledge and admit and pivot off that mistake and really sort of, you know, handing out a contract that just doesn't really make sense.
And that, you know, win against, like the Bulls have, you know, analytics teams and people that sort of produce projections for what a player value and worth would be in that contract, as we saw some other ones, like win against what the own internal
team was sort of crafting.
But I would also point people on the Halliburton myths.
