And, you know, they took a chance on it and it worked out in a way that to a degree they never could have predicted.

And you seem like you weren't seeing like the below fall off a cliff, but like a little bit like, oh, he's down one tick from his average type of day, which like those starts happen to guys.

for him but like I think the real thing was like the strike throwing back in it was which was just by the end of the first half there were hints of it more and more but after his last start he just like I think like I'm I'm just tired in a way that I'm just not getting to my spots in my delivery that I need to be so
this is a big test to see like, all right, you got your all-star break.

When he comes back, Sean Burke didn't want to go to the all-star break.

It said some, someone even said like, ah, you're looking forward to the break, like casually to him.
And he's like, no, like, it was like the Yankee start was like the first example of it.
I don't know if that's like four or five starts ago, but he,
was dealing with like a little bit of like neck stiffness in the spring and that was like in relation to like trying to get his like you know his first move and his delivery when he's kind of rotating his body back for like that extra momentum that was kind of like stiff and uncoordinated in a way where he's like sitting more 92 93.
he definitely figured it out um a couple starts ago because in the yankees at one it looked a lot more like um in sync and then the other thing he noticed is just like 96 out of the gate and like his final pitch of the game was like 99 miles an hour uh he's had he's flashed that fastball before and it's like a super hoppy fastball he gets like 19 to 20 ibb on it it is a high slot so it doesn't like play like crazy but it's pretty good especially if it's sitting like 97 98.
he can dominate on if he's at that velocity.
