They're not a team without flaws.

They're probably yet to prove that they're a team that's maybe seriously a World Series contender in any stripe.

But the idea that they are a team that's winning this year and needs to act like it, even if they're a year early, I think that's been reaffirmed over the last week and over the last six weeks.

I mean, in a way, he's kind of already saying it.

When we talked to Minnesota, he almost kind of self-corrected saying, I know I'm on the record saying it's about more than 2026.

And that's still true in terms of they're not trying to just push all the resources in for this year and trade a bunch of prospects necessarily.

But

It's something that he felt it was necessary to go out there and state like, hey, I'm seeing what we're all seeing here.

Yes, this is a team that's in it, and we're going to try to support that within a reasonable degree, which I think is going to involve adding at the deadline.

0.7 runs per game i want to say the white sox are like 4.75 and like minnesota's close and then no everyone else is like in the low fours like they're clearly the best offensive league but i think the flip side is you probably say the cleveland has the the best run prevention operation uh in the division division not the league i shouldn't say so i i think i wouldn't know if i'd go all the way like it's theirs for the taking or it's theirs to lose but i think they are one of the two legit contenders for the division and

That's a spot pretty much any team would take going into the year is that you have this even chance to go to the division.

And really, looking at the larger AL field, it's underperformed at large.

You always wanted to win your division.

It's always the easiest way to make the playoffs.

But not like a huge groundswell of teams that are like, oh, man, they're definitely going to overtake the White Sox.

I think they have a good shot there as well.

So I think the idea of playoff contention is at this point the expectation for them.
