For the White Sox, it's novel to hear that in some respect, even though they kind of ran the same play in January when they absorbed the Jordan Hicks contract to be willing to, you know, in order to get David Sandlin, the prospect they coveted in that deal.

It's so it's interesting to hear them do that, but also like they still have a very low payroll.

They're still like I think their payroll is probably still less than what it was in 08 when they were pushing to compete back then.

So like this is not only like still, you know, near the bottom of the league, but also like below where they've been at when they've spent to contend before.

So that.

Gets didn't necessarily go all in when I asked, are you going to do this more going forward this season?

But hey, they just swung a deal for Brenton Doyle where they're taking on a $3 million contract, which is certainly pricier than what the prospects they sent out.

So it's an element that if they want to avoid spending prospect capital, they can spend literal capital.

And that's something that allows you to acquire a certain brand or tier of player in this market right now.

Well, certainly what they're touting is innings.

It's hard to parse this because they use so many openers that their actual stats numbers for starters is...

Broken Rion repair, but technically they have the least innings from their starting rotation of any team in the league.

Some of that is openers.

Some of the fact is that you kind of capped Eric Fetty two times through the order.

So basically, he pitched about as well as you could ask him to pitch on Friday, and that still was just five innings.

And with Noah Schultz having his struggles where he's had some outings that end well short of that, they really wanted to address the idea that they were just getting...

at least one short start out of every five and, you know, possibly two and making it a more sustainable thing for their bullpen.

Now, if Castillo struggles and pitches like a guy, the five era, it's still going to be difficult for him to get through the six innings, even if he's built up for it and has this experience of logging heavy seasons.

They do need to do something to get his performance turned right around.
