I think we can all agree on that.

And ultimately, the state has to be agile.

The state has to be constantly in activation mode when it comes to this housing emergency to respond to the changes.

But what we did see, for example, with just a small measure of what I would consider smaller than the revenue by just investing some more in local authorities to ensure that they had

the right amount of staff is that you did see an increase, an incremental increase of properties that were on derelict site registers.

What I would hope we will see by this policy change announced today, and you may not even have to wait for the implementation of the policy, is that it would drive

behavioral change, the mere fact that people sitting on properties right now know that revenue are going to be knocking on their door very shortly, that that would encourage them to activate their property into housing and that they would avail of all of these grants that we've increased in the last budget, as I say, to deliver more homes in our cities, in our towns, in our communities.
