another thing there and no I think it's great watching Rangers v Hearts at the weekend Ibrox was it was rocking the atmosphere was incredible and that's just watching it on the TV not being at the game but we need that for the two big clubs we need Celtic and Rangers getting their way fans just my opinion on it but no it's a step and hopefully they go

the quality Neil Lennon said at midweek as well at the Mortond and Firmley game where he came out and you can see why and that's without VAR but in that game there why does VAR have to get involved it's another great opportunity John Beaton makes the right call on the Liam Gordon one he's miles away from the goal yeah they're two covering defenders but even they're going to get in they're going to affect that and it's as you say obvious goal scoring opportunity how that can be
classed as an obvious goal scoring opportunity it's incredible really you can't it's 45 yards out exactly that one I just don't get the referee makes the right call so why is Chris Graham getting involved the one John Beaton will be really disappointed with in my opinion is the tackle by the Aberdeen player he's in a good position it's very very high and again
it's easy to say when you're sitting watching it on TV, but there's some tackles you see and you go, oh, that's a red, and we've done that for years.
So I believe John Beaton's one of our better referees, but I do also agree that the standard, and obviously there were a time I had to be careful, but I don't now, but even the way you speak to them, like if you're trying to speak to them and ask,
and this wasn't the case when I was a player back when it's not that long ago you're still in your 30s Willie Collum was a referee people like that and John Beaton was a referee when I was playing there's certain ones you could have a conversation with but the new ones coming through you just can't speak to them so was Willie one you could speak to?
No, and the first one, I think, again, that could have went yellow, could have went red, and that just comes down to how the perception of that from John Beaton, he slips, and if he's not there, I think the ball's close enough to Lyle Cameron that he's going to get a shot if the defender's not there, but the fact is, the defender is there, and then it's just a balance, and is it a slip?

And I know people will say, well, we can't say it's early on in the game, a bad tackle, a foul, no matter when it is in the game.
But the referees are the only one I've ever had saying to me that they're trying to control a game or manage a game early on before giving a yellow card.
That would have been a yellow card later on, they'll say.
