Maybe with the way the cap's going, we'll see more of those star players sign two- and three-year deals, and then they'll go to free agency more frequently, and that'll change.
But with the way things are now, where you really need to go through the draft to get that young talent...
That cycle is you got to decide.
I think you got to decide which way you're going.
Because all of this talk about how effective Washington's retool is and Boston's retool and these teams that have tried to turn it around quickly without bottoming out.
I think that that's the recipe to get stuck in the middle of the league and just not be that good.
I mean, for everything that's gone well in Washington, and they do have some prospects coming and they're interesting, or Boston, no one's talking about those teams as being potential contenders.
And that's the goal, right?
I mean, the goal isn't to be a wildcard team every year.
It's to be a great team.
I don't really foresee that for Washington and Boston right now.
It's dead right now for sure.
I mean, we did a poll of the top agents around the league a few weeks ago and they said, yeah, even the agents admitted, yeah, free agency is dead, but it'll come back.
You know, the smart agents are pushing their players, especially the star guys that have already had one big long contract.
You've made a lot of money.
You know, you don't need to commit long-term on this next deal.
And maybe the mindset starts to change.
You know, if, if, I mean, McDavid is,
could be one of the people that changes it.
