So global currencies were sharply lower against the US dollar, with the dollar reaching two-month highs as investors are pricing in that US rate hike cycle that we talked about earlier.

So uh the one Aussie dollar currently buys about 70.4 US cents.

A euro is worth just under one dollar fourteen US.

Dollars uh well a US dollar buys about 158.36 Japanese yen.

And now it's time to get a bit more of a deep dive into how Wall Street and European markets fared overnight.

Starting in the US, the Dow Jones index, it finished lower by point seven of one percent, the S P five hundred fell about point eight of one percent, and the Nasdaq lost more than one percent down one point one percent.

So uh what more can you tell us there, James?

Yeah, and over in Europe, we had the FTSE Euro first three hundred index also uh lower by around point four of one percent.

The UK FTSE one hundred, though, managed to finish flat.

But broadly Europe closed low on the rebound uh in oil prices and bond yields as the Iran conflict also shows, uh, little signs of an end anytime soon.

Uh most of the major sectors on the stock 600 were lower.

Except for uh energy that rose a little more than one percent.

Uh the heavyweight bank stocks lost close to half a percent, while uh insurance and also the construction and materials sector uh saw the largest declines down uh more than one percent each.

Now let's take a look at what's on the watch list.

Here in Australia we've got the job start or labour force figures that will be released at 1130 Australian Eastern Standard Time.

Uh investment company Washington H.

Sol Pattinson or SolPats uh is reporting earnings results later today as well.

And a number of companies will also be making dividend payments, including Amcor, Ramsey Healthcare, Rio Tinto, ResMed.

Monodelphus, Aluca Resources, AGL Energy, Telstra, PLS Group, and also the Lottery Corp.
