Oil drops below $100 as investors eye diplomacy developments between the US and Iran.

And I'm James Tau, aka J T.

Yeah, so there was uh a renewed rally in chipmakers and other AI-related stocks.

That certainly helped lift the Nasdaq index to fresh all-time highs, another closing high as well for the tech heavy index.

Uh overall, it was a fairly mixed session on US markets, James, as uh investors, you know, also keeping an eye out on diplomacy developments uh between the US and Iran.

We did hear a speech by

Uh President Trump at the UN General Assembly.

He did mention the fact that the US could, in quotes, annihilate the Islamic Republic if no peace deal was reached, but also predicted that his administration could also strike a deal with Iran after the US midterm elections happening in November.

So Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly also did mention that US and Iranian officials had.

Held a three hour meeting, so there's certainly plenty going on uh in that particular part of the world.

Uh US President also will be hosting a summit later this week with Chinese President Xi, and they're likely to discuss, you know, all things US China relations, um things like AI, rare earths, tariffs and trade as well.

Yeah, no, having a look at how the Aussie market performed yesterday as well.
