There's all sorts of wrinkles to this when you start trying to structure your affairs for tax, isn't there?

I think, you know, we obviously had at the Financial Review and AI Summit last week, and this suggestion was, you know, Daniel Petri, who's a veteran venture capitalist, philanthropist, he was on stage and he said, you know,

But I think you get to the heart of it.

I've been thinking about it since then.

And how do you tax the robots is a really interesting question.

Do you tax token usage through GST or other methods?

Is there some sort of super profits tax on AI firms?

But how would you define them?

Is Microsoft an AI firm or is Anthropic an AI firm or are they both AI firms?

How do you get...

How do you make sure that those companies, largely US multinationals, actually pay their fair share of tax?

Which, you know, we've never really been able to do in a good way.

But a usage tax would be different to that again, wouldn't it?

I mean, the GST would sort of be the best way of doing it.

Absolutely.

It's a sales tax rather than a usage tax.

It's slightly different.
