Another high-profile American player leaves a Canadian team for an American team.
So we're trying to break it down from a Canucks perspective in the in the first segment as well.
And but I want to start just more bigger picture.
Like, how do you view this trend?
What are what are your kind of big picture thoughts on, again, the trend that we're seeing here?
I think also in the case of Brady.
So we're the team that's exploited you for seven years to do from like we owned your rights and like, you know, it's like, yeah, you basically abducted me from my family.
Yeah, you getting drafted is already doing the team a favor.
That's the team getting a favor by drafting you.
I think also with Brady Kachuk and Quinn Hughes, and I understand Canucks fans' frustration at some of the body language and the effort we saw from Quinn Hughes late, but at the same time, I've seen some people draw a distinction between Brady Kachuk and Quinn Hughes and Mitch Marner.
It's like, well, Mitch Marner was a UFA.
Well, if you're Ottawa and or Vancouver, you'd way rather trade them than lose them as UFA.
Like, that's way better than Brady Kachuk going through the motions for another couple of years and then walking.
At least they were up front and were like, hey, I'm not signing here.
That was my point earlier, right?
Like, whatever spin you want to put in it or what your take on it is, like, the relationship between the two countries is in a tough spot.
And obviously that trickles down to things like booing the anthem, and that is going to impact the players, even if that's not the driving force behind these decisions.
I think so much of it does come down to just, especially for this group of players that we're seeing, starting with Quinn Hughes, although, I mean, you can go back to Matthew Kachuk, but obviously that predates the Four Nations and the Olympics and this cycle of international best on best.
But now Quinn Hughes, Brady Kachuk, Dylan Larkin trade request.
