So McKenna and Stenberg, the two top wingers, are off the board.
Calgary calls you and offers number six, where they're picking.
The Vegas first they own, which, of course, would be 30 or 31.
And they also own pick 35, which I believe was the New York Rangers' second-round pick.
So they offer you six, let's just say 30, and 35 to move up to three because maybe they are desperately in love with Caleb Malhotra as well, and they think, oh, man, we've got to go get this guy.
We're desperate for a center.
We've got Zane Perak.
We've got some other pieces, but we need our center, and it's Caleb Malhotra.
And we know the Canucks love Caleb Malhotra.
So you're getting six.
You're getting 30 and you're getting 35 to move up to three.
Now, to me, this is honestly a slam dunk.
And I think if this type of deal was going to go through, you might even have to throw in a third-round pick or something going back to Calgary or fourth-round pick to make up the difference a little bit.
Because, yes, if you drop back from three to six, you're going to miss out on Caleb Malhotra.
But you're still looking at an excellent D prospect on the board.
one of Reed, Carls, or Verhoff guaranteed to be there for you, or Malhotra if he somehow drops, but I'd be very surprised if that was the case.
Or, hey, you could even go with Viggo Bjork if you were feeling really spicy.
So you're still getting a fantastic prospect, probably one at a premium position if that's what matters to you in the form of a defenseman.
And then you look at the volume that you're going to build up
at the back half of the first round in the early part of the second round.
