So it's like Wiener knew early on.
He's like, there's limits to systems that need clarity.
And he was also very clear to point out that games like chess...
are very useful for machines because there's clear information and there's clear moves that there are objective aims in every situation, which can be calculated by the computer.
And that's why the computer destroyed Casper of Deep Blue and now Stockfish and all the rest of them just destroy any kind of humans.
But football is different.
yeah which strikes me is like then when i see this all these attempts uh to let's say analogize football with chess and um and that's happening a lot like pro licensed coaches are doing theses on you know how football is similar to chess and there's a lot of you know this kind of thing going on and it's seen as like some kind of intellectualization of the game but
I understand that on some level, right?
You can do that.
But it also seems reductive and actually not very helpful because we're not applying the attention-oriented, intuitive, embodied logic, which is at the base of whatever we want to call football tactics.
It's taking the bird's eye view.
It's taking grid locations.
It's taking set parameters.
And it's using this kind of more simplified logic and transposing it.
But yeah, I mean, when you get into it, it breaks down on so many levels.
The rook is not watching the knight to see what the knight is going to do.
