And that's how it regulates.
And without getting into cybernetics, it, for me, is a very useful model of understanding something like Verheyen.
Because Verheyen, like you just explained, Martin,
wants clarity.
And it's clarity for that reason, right?
It's clarity so that information can be used effectively, right, to regulate the system and keep it stable, doesn't descend into chaos.
But he needs that information to be precise and defined.
What you're alluding to there is the potential advantages of vagueness, which is something that cybernetics would have a problem with because vagueness is something that isn't defined into a clear piece and chunk of information.
But interestingly, and I'll just kind of wind this little
detour into cybernetics up here.
And the reason I've gone in here is because you specifically mentioned vagueness.
And Norbert Wiener, who is the founder of cybernetic theory,
was a proponent of it from the 40s onwards, but later in life actually started to get a little bit freaked out by what he'd kind of theorized, right?
And he was like, oh, well, if we're going to start applying this to everything, it's a bit of a problem because humans are not always definable into clear information chunks.
And actually, it's our ability to act and interpret vagueness
which gives us many advantages over machinic logic.
And I'm just going to read a very short quote here.
This is from Wiener.
He's talking about an advantage that humans have over machines.
And it's the ability of the brain.
