There's something to work with there.
Yeah, it's a strange one, Rushing, because actually I've been travelling around with this book, even in the north.
I would say two thirds of the people in the north have never been to Lough Neagh.
It is right in the middle of Northern Ireland.
It's the largest freshwater lake in the UK and Ireland.
Pretty much all of the rainwater in the north runs into Lough Neagh.
But it is, as you've mentioned, it's quite an inaccessible space.
There's no path that you can walk the whole way around the lake.
Sometimes you're clambering through people's backyards and boggy fields and things to get to the waterline.
And I'll be really honest, there are more beautiful places in Northern Ireland.
But on a good day when the sun's out, it's a beautiful space to be in.
And it is a really important spot for wildlife, for flora and fauna and has been designated as a wetland of significance for decades now.
So once I had my initial idea for the book, I started to Google because I'm a terribly sophisticated researcher and I just Google things.
Could you drain Loch Nye?
And it became immediately apparent it would be very difficult to fully drain the loch because of the topography of the north.
But I found out a couple of things.
First of all, the loch had been partially drained three times in the past.
The Victorians had put in a drainage system to try and create more farmland around the edge of the loch.
