So the thing that I had kind of made up as a fantasy idea in my novel...

someone had actually seen it.

And that just felt like a real verification that it was a good idea to keep going with this.

So within the islands, I call it the Ark, the Ney Archipelago.

There's a flood in there as well.

So there's two sides to the Ark.

There's a side that's populated by reasonably normal humans.

So community forums there of folks from mixed marriages, people who've criticised the government.

There's some gay couples, people just sick in sanctuary.

No, not at all.

So they form an almost utopian community out there where they're all getting on together.

And then the other people you need to know about are the Connellys.

So R.J.

Connelly is the social anthropologist who takes his family out to these islands to take notes on the community that are there.

So that's the kind of nice side of the island.

The other side is the far side.

And the far side has almost haunted islands there.

They're referred to in the book as the kind of dumping ground for everything that mainstream mainland Northern Ireland doesn't want to deal with.

So there's an island that swallows things.
