So they move home and they get on with their lives.
But there is a small handful of people that don't trust the peace and they stay on.

I don't know if you have around here, but where I grew up in County Antrim, there were a lot of bachelor farmers.
Yeah, and I think Marion and Robert John, although one's a woman and one's a man, they remind me of that kind of bachelor farmer set up.
They do each other's heads in, but they don't know how to live separately either.
We meet them when they're in their late 50s, and they've been living on the ark since they were small children.
They occasionally get a wee run into Antrim and that is the height of fun for the Connellys.
That's the most excitement they ever get.
And I don't know if your listeners have ever been to Antrim before, but I can tell you that, you know, it really isn't the height of excitement in Antrim town.
And we meet them in 2017 when the Stormont are about to lift the dams and flood Lough Neagh to try and get rid of the blue-green algae that has broken out in the lake.
And so when that happens, Marion and Robert John are going to lose their island home and they're going to have to move back to society in the mainland.
They're terrified about how are they going to integrate into modern culture?
Are they going to leave the past behind?
And, you know, are they going to be stuck with each other for the rest of their lives?
Jan, you have an incredible imagination.
My mother says it's just exaggeration, but imagination is a nice way to put it.
Yeah, and I think what's been interesting with early readers of this book is they cannot tell where the line blurs.
So I've heard a lot of people are reading and also Googling at the same time, you know, did Terence O'Neill really try to drain the lock?
And in my novel, he does it with, they're called bucket men.
