So I am happy to point out things.

And my goodness, there are many, many things within the community I grew up in that need to be critiqued.

But I also want to celebrate the things that should be celebrated.

Like, you know, I grew up feeling safe during a period of history in the North where most people didn't.

That's no small thing.

I was loved there.

I was knowing those are... You don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater sometimes.

And I think we're sometimes quick to throw out all of religion when actually there's some wonderful things that the church has done and continues to do.

I mean, I've been astounded watching the Pope for the last few weeks and going, there's something there that still gets me in the guts.

I guess I really wanted to do Sandra's justice.

And Sandra's been living on this island for almost 50 years, has moved there when she was young.

She doesn't even use the term trans about herself.

It's never mentioned.

No, because that whole movement has happened while she's been on an island.

And I've met, I've had the great privilege of meeting some older trans people who've been around for a long time and

fought a really hard fight and I don't see them represent it oftentimes.

It's a young person's story often.

So I wanted Sandra to be in there and I had a wonderful trans writer who did a sensitivity read for me and really helped me with that, which was very reassuring.

I think the Irish passport for me, I acquired at a point where I was thinking really hard about identity and there's always a push and a pull factor in these things.

And to be very honest, I had felt like a push factor away from British identity because there seemed to be so little interest in the Tory government at that stage in Northern Ireland.
