It's really over a quarter century now, though the first, I'd say, five years were in the human rights side of it.
I only sort of moved into journalism when I realized how grossly uneducated most of our, I mean, nevermind most of our society, most of our media, like we just deeply did not understand the reality of communist China.
And if I may just say exactly how, right?
We have something called the First Amendment here.
It's the First Amendment because these are our most critical rights, the rights that come from God, right?
Freedom of association, freedom of speech, freedom of belief, conscience, and so forth.
So in the whole narrative, the Kissinger Doctrine back in the day was basically that
You know, we were going to change them.
We were going to change them by pumping large amounts of cash.
Democracy was inevitable.
And of course, we were going to make, you know, the people that had the capital were going to make a ton of money doing it.
That was the narrative.
And we knew or I knew, you know, being on the human rights side, looking at China, that they were murdering people at scale for exercising exactly what we knew, what we call First Amendment rights.
So that cannot be a liberalizing society.
It was like a 95-5 issue, Steve, back then.
Nobody believed it.
So the project became, after a while, just how do we explain this to the American people?
That's right.
I mean, and I've done a lot more in the last, you know, you had a war room pandemic for a while.
And basically, I switched into all sorts of pandemic stuff, but from China, too, because there was this crazy narrative that, of course, it was a natural occurrence, right, this virus and so forth.
