The last time Israeli forces were this far into Lebanon was in 2000, at the end of an 18-year occupation, when they withdrew amid fighting with Iran-backed Hezbollah.
On Sunday, the Israeli military said it captured a mountaintop crusader-era castle near the southern city of Nabatea.
