So much so that at his first court appearance, when it was on a video link from Utah County Jail,
The judge actually thought she had almost the wrong man in front of him because he kept on saying, I am not Nicholas Rossi.
And, you know, do you think she would have sort of read a wee bit of the file about the man with the different aliases?
But she turned around and she said, who do I have here in front of me?
And then it was at that stage, one of the prosecutors got up and said, he's got different aliases, this, that and the other.
So he was in denial for a very long time about being, even though the court here in Edinburgh had identified him.
I mean, we all knew
But lo and behold, several months later, he then came forward and then he said that he was Nicholas Rossi and that he had taken on a different identity because he was very fearful of people, local politicians, he said, who were making death threats to him.
And that's why he went on the run and took on a new identity.
I was.
There was two rape trials because the rapes happened in two separate counties of Utah.
And because I was in touch with the prosecutors for the second trial, which took place in Provo in Utah in September,
I met them in the trial in Salt Lake City the month before.
And they were asking me about my podcast and they said, we'd like to play excerpts of it in the trial in September.
And I said, OK, great.
To be honest, you know, if you want me to be a witness, I would be very happy to do that.
I mean, they didn't expect me to say that and I didn't expect them to take me up on their offer.
But the next thing is I was subpoenaed and I took the stand.
